Hi, I’m Sarah Ahern — Certified Metabolic Health Coach and founder of Metabolic Switch.
I help exhausted women fix their metabolism from the inside out so they can lose weight, kill cravings and stop starting over every Monday.

Food should nourish, not control your life.

When I was 20 years old I was working on cruise ships and having the time of my life, but I had gained quite a bit of weight. Back then all I cared about was losing it. Someone gave me one simple piece of advice. Cut the carbs and sugar. So I did. And it worked.

But something interesting happened as I got older. Every time I went back to eating the way everyone else was eating, the bread, the sugar, I felt awful. Tired, foggy, sluggish. My blood sugar was all over the place and my body was telling me loud and clear that it did not want that fuel.

So I went back to low carb/keto And I stayed there.

For 25 years I have ignored almost every dietary guideline they told us to follow.

They told us fat was bad. I ate fat.

They told us to eat less meat. I ate more.

They told us to eat wholegrains. I ate none.

And I am in the best health of my life.

Meanwhile I was building a career as a beauty therapist. And every single day women would come in and lie on my treatment bed. They were smart, capable, motivated women who were doing their best. Following the dietary guidelines. They were suffering with obesity, dysregulated blood sugar and so many health issues.

They were exhausted. They felt out of control around food. They counted calories, they tried every diet and nothing worked. How they felt like failures.

And my heart broke. Because I could see exactly what was happening. These women were following the advice they had been given, the same advice that had been making people sicker for over 50 years.

The dietary guidelines we have been handed for decades have not made us healthier. They have made us sicker. Type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, metabolic disease, all worse than ever. We have been misled and misguided, and the women lying on my treatment bed were paying the price for it.

I could not keep doing facials while knowing what I knew.

So I retrained. I became a certified Metabolic Health Coach and studied the science that confirmed everything I had already lived, that blood sugar, insulin, and metabolic health are the missing piece that nobody had been talking about properly.

And what I discovered through my certification broke my heart even further. We have been given the wrong advice for over 50 years. This is not a personal failing. This is a systemic one.

So I built Metabolic Switch. And I created the SWITCH Method, a framework that takes women through everything I know, everything I have lived, and everything the science confirms, to help them fix their metabolism from the inside out.

In 2023 I was named Metabolic Nutrition Coach of the Year. But honestly the thing that matters most to me is not the award.

It is the woman who messages me to say the cravings have gone quiet for the first time in years. The one who wakes up with energy. The one who stops starting over every Monday and finally feels free.

It is not your fault. You have been following advice that was never going to work.

And if I can spend 25 years going against the grain, and come out the other side feeling better than ever, so can you.
